(Those glasses come with a steel rim.)?
My glasses fogged in the warm air.
My glasses are rimmed with steel.
My glasses which are rimmed with steel fogged in the warm air.
My steel-rimmed glasses fogged in the warm air.
    (2)
My glasses which are rimmed with steel fogged in the warm air.,這個句子現在時which are rimmed和過去時fogged在同一個句子,是正確的時態用法嗎?

The shopkeeper adopts a take-it-or-leave-it attitude when customers starts to bargain.(當顧客開始討價還價的時候,店老闆就採取「要不要隨你便」的態度。)

Your question is easy to answer.
Your question is easy so that we can answer.,副詞子句so that we can answer修飾動詞is,為何減化後的不定詞片語to answer修飾形容詞easy?

1:The question is too difficult to answer.(問題太難,以至於不能解答。)
句2:The question is too easy to answer.(問題太容易,以至於能回答。)

例如a used car,中間的used是把動詞use變為形容詞used。在easy to answer中,to answer視為動詞can answer的詞類變化,成為副詞、修飾easy
      2

    (1)
雙重所有格that daughter of hers,能否寫成the daughter of hers?
    看到坊間的文法書如此解釋:不可寫成the daughter of hers,因為定冠詞(The definite article)the和所有格代名詞hers兩者都有特定(definite)的含義。可以寫成that daughter of hers,是因為hers雖有「特定」的含義,但that另有「指示」的功能。

      the和that/those不能連用。
      2
The daughter of hers也不見得就錯,例如:The daughter of hers that works in Taipei...,定冠詞the如果下文有搭配that works in Taipei之類的指示,就可以採用。

I don't like this one. Show me the other (one).(我不喜歡這一個。
    another是an other的結合。
    相對於another的是the other,the other的意思是「另外那一個」。

      another和the other都屬於限定詞類,其中an與the是中位限定詞、other是後位限定詞。

there being no index來自there is no index,代表一件「敘述、事情」。 如果是the lack of an index「缺…」

This was an insensitive lapse for the Chinese, who have rankled for decades because of 「the thing that」 Japanese politicians have been stretching syntax to avoid apologizing for their country’s wartime aggression.?

      不定詞to V亦然:有時只需還原為動詞should V, can V, must V等等,視為動詞片語的詞類變化。例如:

      其中的to eat不需還原為子句,只能視為動詞片語can eat的詞類變化,成為to eat,當作副詞來修飾good。

可改成如下:b.The man standing there who wears a  pair of tinted glasses is my uncle.
c.The man standing there wearing a  pair of tinted glasses is my uncle.

d.That fat,bloated,sick-looking guy who is standing there and is surrounded by a bunch of young chicks is the notorious Brother Huang.
e.That fat,bloated,sick-looking guy standing there surrounded by a bunch of young chicks is the notorious Brother Huang.

    在c句"standing there"和"wearing a  pair of tinted glasses"之間是否少了"and"??
    在e句"standing there"和"surrounded by a bunch of young chicks之間是否少了"and"??
Do you know the gentleman standing under the tree and talking to a foreigner?standing.....and talking......=分詞片語+and+分詞片語,作形容詞用,修飾前面的名詞the gentleman."the gentleman standing under the tree"和"talking to a foreigner"之間就有"and"連接.

    1. a, b正確,c的句子也沒錯,但若要從a, b減化而來,應該加個and,成為standing there and wearing

      e句子正確,但若要從d減化而來,應該加上and成為standing there and surrounded by

That man who is standing there while he is surrounded...
      也就是句子分為三層的主從:while he is surrounded修飾is standing

後來查到,admission的含義是permission to enter a place(准許進入),admissions的含義是the people allowed into a college, hospital, or other place, or the process of allowing people in(大學、醫院等接收的人數;准許加入的過程、准許加入的方法)。
    1.

    1. admissions在此指「入學許可事宜」,也就是字典中說的the process of allowing people in。

Global investors act only at selected moments rather than they adapt to changes.。
For shelter, some natives of North-Western China dig caves into sheer cliffs rather than building free-standing- houses.(爲了遮風蔽雨,中國西北有些當地人在陡峭的崖壁上挖洞穴,而不是建造獨立的房舍。)
Computer manufacturers in Japan or Texas will not face hugely bigger freight bills if they import drives from Singapore rather than 「purchasing them on the domestic market」.,這裡就使用了purchasing,而不用purchase。

A deluge would have scattered the fossils helter-skelter rather than 「it would have left」 them in orderly assemblages.。

Swimming is a good exercise.,那就直接看作是動詞swim作名詞類swimming變化好了。

    1. Canned peaches are good to eat不能還原為so that it can eat。 其次,peaches不會吃(應該是人吃),得用被動態so that they can be eaten,那會減化為to be eaten。

Canned peaches are good so that one can eat them,這又會減化為to eat them。

That's the thing that Todesco assumed it was.
    如果把it was解釋為省略連接詞that的關係子句,那麼,the thing既是that Todesco assumed的先行詞,也是(that) it was的先行詞,這兩個關係子句that Todesco assumed和(that) it was之間沒有加連接詞and,句子不也錯了嗎?

That's Todesco assumed the thing that it was.
    這樣一來,這個句子就可以用文法詮釋了,assumed只有一個受詞the thing,the thing又是關係子句that it was的先行詞。

    1. 1. Todesco(S) assumed(V) (that) it was the thing(O).
      句中的受詞是it was the thing這個名詞子句,連接詞that可以省略,其中the thing是主詞補語。
      2. A bird is the thing.
A bird is the thing that Todesco assumed (that) it was.

句中的being kind意思是acting in a kind way, showing kindness,這個being就不是靜態動詞,可以有進行式。

You will all have heard the news.(你們一定都聽到了消息了。)
    這裡的will have heard猜測過去時間。

By August I will have worked at the company for 30 years.(到八月為止,我將在這家公司工作滿30年。)

By August I will have worked at the company for 30 years.,句中的will屬於猜測用法。 You will all have heard the news.

Especially not one who calls his campaign manager on many days by 7 a.m., and certainly not now, the day before Trump formally kicks off his 2020 re-election bid. So it doesn’t take much prodding for the President, a former casino magnate, to start making book on the sprawling field of Democratic challengers.

Gone is the rickety operation that eked out an upset victory over Hillary Clinton. In its place, advisers boast, is a state-of-the-art campaign befitting an incumbent President. Trump’s campaign is gearing up to spend $1 billion, and may well get there. His team has spent more money, earlier in the campaign, than any re-election bid in recent history. Campaign staff sit in slick offices in a glass-skinned tower overlooking the Potomac River in Arlington, Va. And Trump has won total control of the Republican National Committee, which fought against him for much of 2016.

(By August)?

語氣助動詞加原形動詞,will have heard後面的have heard就算是原形動詞(have的原形)。
      2
      The dog may/might be sick.
The dog seemed to be sick then.
但是to V沒有時間的差別,所以to be sick的時間和seemed的時間相同,同樣是過去時間。另外:
The dog seemed to have been run over by a car.
      4
It would be wonderful to study under that master now.
It would be wonderful if I could study under that master now.
It would be wonderful if I could have studied (or had studied) under that master then.

    1. 因為it is time that可以改為it is time when,意思大致相同,所以that子句當作關係子句解釋比較好。
That you started living on your own is time.
Time is that you started living on your own.

    1. 在before that中的時態要改變一下才通:before he was a police officer,因為before指的是「某個截止點之前」,這個截止點應該是簡單式。後面搭配he was/had been a taxi driver都行。

I dislike standing in long lines.(我討厭排隊。)
    第一句中的to be可以視為can be的變化。
第二句中的to wait可以視為will wait的變化,它可以做為like的受詞,成為like to wait(願意等),或變成否定句don't like to wait(不喜歡等),這些都可以使用不定詞。
I will stand in long line.(願意排隊)。而且dislike不像hate,它沒有「必須」(have to)的暗示。

I like being the first.(我喜歡名列第一這種事情。)?
第二句為何要在動詞don't like後面採取不定詞片語to wait too long作受詞,為什麼不能是I don't like waiting too long.(我不喜歡等太久這種事情。)?

    1. 在like後面用to V與Ving都可以。如果是would like,後面就只能用to V。

副詞子句so that he can look after himself是修飾動詞is,還是修飾副詞enough?
副詞enough修飾形容詞old,說明old enough是形容詞片語,該片語應該以形容詞old為主,如果副詞子句so that he can look after himself修飾副詞enough,為何不說修飾形容詞old來得更直接?

例如此人tall enough to play football,但很可能not tall enough to play basketball。

Late Latin philanthropia, from Greek philanthrōpia, from philanthrōpos loving people, from phil- + anthrōpos human being

如果說A from B,就是先有B,然後才有A這個字,不一定指兩種語言

Does The Loudest Voice offer revelations about Fox News that we couldn’t have gleaned from Sherman’s work or absorbed simply by living for decades in a world where Ailes both made news and shaped it? Not really. And that lack of new information has some critics dismissing the miniseries as pointless. (“The Loudest Voice really sticks it to Roger Ailes, who is still dead and doesn’t care what anyone thinks,” a Washington Post headline cracked.)
Yet this reaction ignores the unique power of visual storytelling. Knowing the facts isn’t the same as watching one man oscillate from political kingmaker to brutal boss to devoted husband to sexual predator; the latter forces you, with every frame, to consider how those Wikipedia headings add up to a life. The Loudest Voice is thorough in its efforts to make every facet of Ailes’ personality make sense in the context of his biography.

1(“The Loudest Voice really sticks it to Roger Ailes...) And that lack of new information has some critics dismissing the miniseries as pointless有何關聯性 ?
2 the latter forces you, with every frame, to consider how those Wikipedia headings add up to a life中的 how those Wikipedia headings add up to a life的意思是 ?

As it happens, our increasing need to see before we can believe has a lot to do with Roger Ailes, whose purposeful conflation of news, opinion and conspiracy theories played no small part in making Americans across the political spectrum instinctively question what the media frames as truth. And that’s what makes The Loudest Voice–with its holistic, relatively understated depiction of a personality prone to caricature–effective. In weaving Ailes’ neuroses and the misdeeds they fueled together with the rise of Fox News until the network becomes a mirror of the man, the show does more than stick it to the dead. It demonstrates how one person’s cynicism and paranoia reshaped a nation. Seeing it happen may be the first step in finding an antidote.
3 And that’s what makes The Loudest Voice–with its holistic, relatively understated depiction of a personality prone to caricature–effective. 因為 The Loudest Voice的表現手法是holistic 而且understated, 所以people question what the media frames as truth.

4 In weaving Ailes’ neuroses and the misdeeds they fueled together with the rise of Fox News 中的In =because ?
5neuroses and the misdeeds ...可否解讀為 they fueled neuroses , the misdeeds and the rise of Fox News ?

Beyond showing us real, if fictionalized, people and events of which we have only secondhand knowledge, these shows engage us with them through a narrative
6 real, if fictionalized, people 中的 real及fictionalized是相反的字, real, if fictionalized, people的意思是 ?

      4
      是,或者while doing so
      5
句中的they fueled是關係子句that they fueled,修飾先行詞the misdeeds。 In weaving Ailes’ neuroses and the misdeeds together with the rise of Fox News「劇中把Ailes的神經質與惡行,和福斯新聞網的竄升串連起來」
      6
      Roger Ailes

2:I was about to leave when Mark arrived.(馬克到的時候我剛要走。)

S(I)-V(am)-C(going to be a famous pop star when I'm older,現在分詞片語)。
I'm going in order that I can be a famous pop star when I'm older.(意思類似:我正在往某個方向前進,這個方向就是我會在未來成為歌星。)
S(I)-V(was)-C(about,形容詞)。
I was about so that I can leave when Mark arrived.(意思類似:我正在往某個方向前進,這個方向就是我在Mark到達之前,我能離開。)
